6 Days River Crossing

Day 1: Arrival JRO/transfer to Arusha

On arrival you will be met by our Gusa Africa adventure guide and transfer to arusha which takes approximately one hour.

Depending on your time of arrival in Tanzania, you can decide if you would like to receive a short briefing with your guide on the same day or the next morning. The rest of the day is free for you to spend at your leisure. Enjoy the hotel, relax and get ready for your Tanzanian adventure!

Day 2:  Fly to Northern Serengeti National Park (Kogatende)

After breakfast you will transfer to Arusha Airport for your flight to Kogatende located in the northern part of Serengeti National Park.

Northern Serengeti wildebeest migration will leave you amazed and the best event to witness, this is probably the highlight of the Serengeti during this time of the year. It is a true spectacle and impressive to watch millions of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles thunder along the Mara River preparing to cross the river to Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya.

Upon touch down, you will drive to Camp for lunch, rest and head out again for an afternoon game drive in Serengeti northern part. You will drive back to camp during the evening whilst enjoying the beautiful sunset for dinner and overnight.

Day 3:  Full day at Northern Serengeti National Park

Today is fully dedicated to perhaps the world’s most enchanting and breathtaking wildbeest migration at Northern Serengeti National Park.

You will be able to observe how the wildebeest cross the river, they cross the Mara Back River to Maasai Mara National Reserve of Kenya passing through the Serengeti Maasai Mara Ecosystem. the river crossing is commonly habituated with crocodiles, hippos and the large cats, hyenas around and therefore you may witness some of the wildlbeest drowning or getting fisted on by the crocodile in the river or wild cat along the river bank.

At around noon you will head back to the camp for lunch a rest a bit before you head out again for an afternoon game drive. You will continue searching for various animals and spots to explore the wildebeest migration and other animals.

You will drive back to camp for dinner and overnight

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater

Early morning you drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The road leads you over the Great Rift Valley, through the crater forest, to the striking Ngorongoro Crater.

Home to over 120 species of mammals including the big five, it is one of the most sought-after destinations in the world, as it’s an amazing place to see the rare black rhinoceros. Other animals hide in the dense jungle on high crater walls, while others play in the fascinating setting of the crater floor. Be in awe of the grasslands that are crisscrossed by rivers, lakes, forests, and mountains.

You will have lunch in on of the park’s designated areas and continue with game drive in others areas of the park

After an adventurous day you will ascend the crater and head the lodge in Karatu getting in good time for check-in and rest before dinner.

Day 6: Drive back to Arusha/ Transfer to the airport

After breakfast, you will depart the lodge and drive to Arusha, on the way you will see locals going about their daily activities. Do not hesitate to tell your driver to stop the vehicle if you see somethings interesting that you need clarity.

Once you get to Arusha you will have lunch at  New Safari Hotel, rest a bit as you wait to transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight
