Day by day description
Day 1: Arrival JRO/ Tarangire National Park
Upon arrival you will be met and welcomed by our Gusa Africa driver guide and embark on your adventurous journey to Tarangire National Park. You will first head to the lodge check-in, have lunch and rest a bit before you head for an afternoon game drive in Tarangire, the park with worldwide reputation for surprising large herds of elephants and medieval baobab trees. It draws its name from Tarangire River, the only permanent source of water in the park that spans approximately 2,850 square kilometers. Among many, Tarangire National Park is home to numerous species of animals, birds and flora. You will have lunch in the parks’ designated area then you proceed with game drive. During the evening you with enjoy beautiful sunset view as you drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Mto wa Mbu cultural activities / Manyara National Park
After early breakfast at 7:15 am you’ll depart for a 15-minute drive to experience A Day in the Life of a Maasai village. Maasai people are believed to be one among the most authentic tribe remaining in East Africa. You will learn how the local do their daily activities like milking the cows, herd cattle, construct or renovate their houses. You will also learn about their culture, preferred foods, traditional songs and dances.
After the boma visit, you will proceed to Mto wa Mbu, a small vibrant village with different culture as it is home to people from more than 120 tribes. You will take stroll through the banana and rice plantation, meet locals and learn how they conduct their normal daily activities. You will have hot local lunch at Mto wa Mbu a very good opportunity to explore Tanzanian dishes.
After lunch, you will proceed to nearby Lake Manyara National Park for an afternoon game drive. The park is well known for its tree-climbing lions and large flocks of flamingoes along the lake. You will see the Great Rift Valley escarpment, flowering plants, an evergreen forest and the shallow alkaline Lake Manyara that makes the park spectacular with many photographing opportunities as the park is blessed with abundant flora and fauna.
Day 3: Game enroute to Serengeti National Park
You’ll begin the day driving towards the Serengeti National Park. You will pass through the rainforests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and if lucky you will come across some wildlife. As you enter Serengeti you will witness Africa’s iconic savannah landscape and sheer number of ungulates roaming the grassy plains. You will get to the camp for lunch and rest. At around 15:00 you will choose to either go for an afternoon game drive or have the evening to yourself to rest.
You can enjoy sometime around the camp fire while having a drink as you wait for dinner.
Day 4: Full day at Serengeti National Park
Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Serengeti, one of Africa’s wildlife reserves. Discover the park’s iconic creatures in the early morning Game Drive. If you will be interested, you can take the opportunity to do optional balloon safari, which concludes with a champagne breakfast in the midst of the grasslands.
After the breakfast proceed with game drive, get to see the Serengeti “Kopjes” which are massive boulders of granite standing in a sea of grass which provide shelter to a large variety of flora and fauna. After a sumptuous buffet hot lunch proceed with the afternoon safaris through the golden grasslands.
During the evening, you will drive back to the lodge, shower to take the safari dust off and enjoy a sundowner as you wait for dinner.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast you will depart with picnic lunch to Ngorongoro Crater. With a 21 km diameter, the Ngorongoro caldera is home to up to 25,000 large animals and more than 360 different bird species. Additionally, the crater boasts Africa’s highest predator density. Other animals hide in the dense jungle on high crater walls, while others play in the fascinating setting of the crater floor. Be in awe of the grasslands that are crisscrossed by rivers, lakes, forests, and mountains.
The crater is known as the multiple land use property as animals and the Maasai people have managed to coexist together in harmony therefore don’t be surprised to see cattle amongst buffalo herds. After an adventurous day you will ascend the crater and drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Drive back to Arusha/ Transfer to the airport
Today after breakfast, you will drive to Arusha. This is your opportunity to find something special as you drive to Arusha after a relaxing breakfast.
Once you get to Arusha you will have lunch at reputable restaurant in Arusha, rest a bit as you wait to transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight
